About Us

Mission:

The mission of APTA North Dakota is to advance the quality of physical therapy to meet the needs of society by representing and promoting the profession of physical therapy through education, advocacy, and service.

History:

The American Physical Therapy Association North Dakota Chapter (APTA North Dakota)  was chartered on June 28, 1954. Clarence Blecha, PT was instrumental in the early organization of APTA North Dakota as the first elected president from 1953-1955. APTA North Dakota remains an all volunteer organization advancing the quality of physical therapy in the state to meet the needs of society by representing and promoting the profession of physical therapy. Through the efforts of APTA North Dakota , physical therapists in the state gained direct access to patient care after the signing of house bill 1362 by Governor George Sinner in 1989.

APTA North Dakota remains a progressive organization to this day offering chart reviews and educational programs for appropriate physical therapy documentation, biannual continuing education conferences, and chapter meetings through internet video streaming.

Awards: 

APTA North Dakota is proud to present two awards regularly. The Outstanding Service Award  and Friends of the Chapter Award are presented to those who meet several criteria in the industry for their professional and volunteer achievements.  Click here to see a list of past recipients.
